01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Itteru Coffee, choosing a cup begins with the beans—and the roast level. The menu includes Mandheling, Brazil and Uganda, among other options, and the beans are roasted from green coffee after you order. You can request a light, medium or dark roast. Some visitors have chosen Brazil, while others have opted for a dark roast; there is no single way to order. The time spent waiting for the beans to be roasted and the coffee brewed is part of the experience. Some coffees are served in a pot, and one visitor remarked that it held about 2 cups. The beans listed on the menu cost 1,100 yen, making this a cup to take your time over.

For something sweet alongside your coffee, consider the tofu gâteau au chocolat. The menu says it is handmade with tofu from Kagurazaka Katsu and chocolate made from cacao beans by Rico kagurazaka; it costs 600 yen. Some coffee orders also come with a piece of chocolate, so you can choose between ordering a separate sweet and starting with the chocolate served alongside your drink.

There are tables and counter seats. One visitor found the layout, where guests take off their shoes before going in, reminiscent of being welcomed into someone’s home. The café is on the 4 floor of a building in Kagurazaka. Rather than stopping for a quick coffee, it suits a visit that leaves time to choose the beans and wait for the roasting and brewing.
